Antimonopoly Law will be put into effect in China on August 1. At present, a hot topic is do IT multinationals, like Microsoft and Intel, involved monopolistic action in Chinese market? Responding to this, Zhang Yaqin, chairman of board of Microsoft China, said on July 23 that Microsoft is definitely clear of the problem of monopoly in Chinese market.
In the afternoon of July 23, Zhang replied to reporters in a news conference: ¡®Microsoft has carried out a wide range of cooperation with Chinese government and the whole IT industry, our business is away from monopoly.¡¯
On July 23, Reuters quoted an American lawyer¡¯s view that multinationals should overcome the anxiety that China¡¯s Antimonopoly Law is aiming at them. An American lawyer reminded that China¡¯s legal process still to be perfect and should be China¡¯s giant state-owned enterprises, not multinationals, face the first round of shock brought by the new law.
