ZSP is the first state-level hi-tech industry development zone approved by the State Council in May 1988. The Park includes the central Haidian Zone, the development zone and hi-tech industry zones around the city, covering the areas with the most intensive technological, intellectual, human and information resources. The Haidian Zone covers a total area of 75 square kilometers and includes China Academy of Science, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Western Zhongguancun Area. The famous ¡°Zhongguancun Electronic Street¡± is the origin of the Zone.
The development zone starts from Shangdi Information Industry Base, and covers Northern Haidian District, Qinghe, Xisanqi, and Huilongguan. The hi-tech industry zones around the city include the Electronic Zone, Yizhuang Science & Technology Zone, Fengtai Zone and Changping Zone.
The recent key construction projects in ZSP are summarized as ¡°One road, one zone, one park and one network¡±. That is, the city light track going through the northeast suburb and the northwest suburb, Western Zhongguancun Area, Zhongguancun Science Zone, National Software Park, and the high-speed broadband multimedia information network.
