Ever since the Reform and Opening, Beijing has entered a new period in terms of municipal construction. And the construction in Zhongguancun makes the city much prettier.

In 1993 the State Council approved the Beijing Overall City Planning (1991-2010). The Planning proposes three functional districts outside the existing urban area: ZSP, CBD and the Olympic Garden. ZSP is the most intellectual-resources-intensive area in China with vast growth potential. In the next ten years the Beijing city government will improve the investment and entrepreneurship environment in Zhongguancun area step by step, and endeavor to build Zhongguancun into a world-class hi-tech industry zone.
