Rui Xianglin, vice president of SAP China, the largest software company in Europe, expressed during a recent interview that it is unnecessary for China¡¯s software industry to follow the India way, and it is actually not right to do so. The reason is because India primarily does OEM works for the world¡¯s large software vendors, whilst China¡¯s software industry should follow the European way, that is, to master its own core technology.

He said so far there appears no sizable software enterprise with strict process control in China, and more time is needed for the industry to grow. Nevertheless, the macro-market environment has provided domestic software vendors with opportunity to grow fast. their utmost advantage is the understanding of local culture and customs, like that of all local enterprises around the world.
